Bus DriverSummary of Position
1. Operate buses and vans to transport passengers over established routes according to time schedule.
2. Perform vehicle pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
3. Maintain statistical data for travel logs, passenger counts and fuel usage, and monitor fare boxes.
4. Report hazardous road or travel conditions via two-way radio to dispatcher, as necessary.
5. Fuel and clean vehicle upon completion of shift, as required.
6. Provide input for route changes, altering of time schedules and passengers’ concerns or suggestions for improving service.
7. May be required to assist passengers in use of wheelchair lift and equipment, or in emergency situations by applying first aid.
8. Perform related duties, as assigned.

DurhamRequired Qualifications
2. Ability to pass DOT drug & alcohol testing under all required categories (pre-placement, random, suspicion, post-accident, return to duty, and follow-up).
3. Ability to pass and maintain a valid DOT physical and medical card.
4. Knowledge of state laws governing the operation of motor vehicles, including buses and lift-equipped vehicles.
5. Valid operator’s license.
6. Ability to complete Wildcat Transit training program.
7. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
8. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position.
9. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the dispatcher and public.
10. Must be at least 18 years old with 2 years driving experience and a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Physical Demands
Sitting, kneeling, bending, squatting.
Ability to perform vehicle pre-trip inspections outdoors in all types of weather; rain, snow, hot & cold weather.
