SUMMARY
GRCC is seeking faculty who possess an interest in working with diverse student populations from a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin and ability; engage in and develop innovative teaching strategies; effectively assess student learning outcomes; demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development and provide service to our students, the college, and our community at large. Faculty members are responsible to GRCC and to each other for the successful completion of departmental work, as well as associated with the School of Liberal Arts and GRCC as a whole. In addition to the major position responsibility, collaborative piano, it is expected that faculty demonstrate outstanding communication skills, collaborate effectively, use personal initiative to overcome obstacles and work efficiently to meet deadlines. In an environment where innovation is valued, each faculty member will take responsibility to perform their work in a manner consistent with both the letter and the spirit of GRCC values
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Accompany applied music students during applied lessons, applied music performance classes, student recitals, and applied music jury exams.
● Coach and accompany students in individual rehearsal sessions for college and public music performances
● Assess and evaluate student readiness to perform
● Instruct students on performance etiquette
● Collaborate with other faculty to coach students on all aspects of their performance
● Recommend appropriate repertoire to students based on their ability
● Accompany college choral ensembles during rehearsals and performances
● Direct choral ensembles for sectional rehearsals as needed
● Accompany faculty during recital performances as needed
● Teach group and applied piano as needed
● Participate in faculty meetings and on Music program committees as appropriate
● Support the community college philosophy and student population.
● Contribute to the development of students, the program, and the community through involvement in program and college-wide activities.
● Engage in professional development activities and maintain expertise in the field of collaborative piano.
● Complete yearly Faculty Performance Evaluations and meet all responsibilities of the Faculty Evaluation System as detailed in the Faculty Contract.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
● Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance or Collaborative Piano required.
Work Experience
● A minimum of two years college or university level accompanying experience required, both vocal and instrumental, the equivalent part-time, adjunct accompanying time, or graduate assistant level accompanying will be considered as having met the minimum.
● Proven experience as a collaborative performer at a professional level required.
● Community College accompanying experience preferred.
● Coaching experience in vocal diction preferred.
● Teaching experience in group and applied piano preferred.
● Experience working with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds with varying academic skills preferred.
Skills
● Outstanding musicianship and sight-reading skills.
● Ability to teach musicianship skills when needed.
● Appropriate technology required to perform the duties of the position.
● Excellent communication skills.
Physical Demands
● Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

● Demonstrated initiative and organizational and problem-solving abilities.
● Ability to perform routine and unexpected duties with minimum supervision.
