Job Description
Fisher House Wisconsin, Inc. (FHW) is a nonprofit dedicated to providing a “home away from home” for the families and loved ones of veterans and military service members when they are receiving medical care from any designated Veterans Administration (VA) hospital or VA-approved medical facility located in Wisconsin.
FHW is looking for a seasoned, mission-driven Executive Director who possesses topnotch communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills along with a proven track record of growing an impactful nonprofit organization through donor management, fundraising initiatives, and capital campaigns.
The ideal candidate is someone who lives and breathes all things in support of veterans and military service members and their families. As the Executive Director of FHW, this individual will represent FHW to internal and external audiences in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Role Objectives
- Promote awareness of FHW’s mission
- Organize and execute fundraising and capital campaigns to meet FHW’s targeted goals
- Expand FHW’s donor base
- Maintain existing relationships with individual and corporate donors, including acknowledgment and recognition activities (e.g., speaking engagements, check acceptances, and Town Halls)
Responsibilities
Donor Management (50%)
- Streamline the donor management process
- Research potential donors, foundations, and other development opportunities
- Represent FHW’s mission to donors, potential donors, and other external audiences
Marketing (25%)
- Create, review, and evolve fundraising and marketing materials
- Manage website content and social media activities
- Gather content, develop story ideas, and publish the FHW newsletter, twice annually
- Ensure consistency of the FHW brand across all mediums
Administration (25%)
- Assist with fundraising and event planning coordination
- Fulfill reporting requirements for stakeholders
- Prepare meeting package for Board Meetings
- Participate in the FHW committees (Fund Development & Marketing, Governance, Finance, and Strategic Development)
- Assist the Board of Directors
- Support the needs of the FH staff and guests
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in fundraising and capital campaigns
- Proven track record of planning and initiating successful fundraising strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Event planning experience
- Experience working with multiple committees and providing direction to the Board of Directors
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Military experience preferred, not required
- Tech savvy with experience using fundraising software tools
- Grant writing experience
- Skilled in volunteer recruitment and management
Job Terms
- Full-time flexible schedule / primarily working from home
- May include occasional evenings or weekend work
- Occasional overnight travel for conferences/meetings is required – primarily within Wisconsin and to an annual conference in Washington DC
- Compensation commensurate with experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
