Title: Director of Human Resources

Department: Office of Human Resources

Employment Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Vice President of Workplace Culture and Inclusion

Objective: Reporting to the VP of Workplace Culture & Inclusion, the Director of Human Resources will be responsible for all areas of the employee-life cycle to support the overall mission and strategic direction of the department. Additionally, the Director will assist senior leadership in cultivating a work environment and culture that is consistent with the college's mission and values.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing and overseeing day-to-day HR functions with a focus on performance management, communications, employee relations, and employee engagement.
  • Work with the VP and HR Associate in developing an robust onboarding process in efforts to increase employee engagement and retention
  • Assist in revising, implementing and assessing a comprehensive group of human resource processes, which includes performance management, employee relations, engagement, and succession planning
  • Develop and update internal HR related policies and procedures within the guidelines of the College
  • Manage and oversee operations to ensure timely execution of HR processes in partnership with the Deputy Director in absence of the VP
  • Make enhancements to existing systems, and partner with other units on implementation of the Oracle systems as needed
  • Develop and implement strategic communications to ensure that staff have timely resources and information
  • Develop HR metrics, create reports and conduct data analysis to identify trends and make recommendations
  • Partner with the VP and Deputy Director of HR on developing annual performance, compensation and merit process
  • Follow up with Program Directors and Executive Team members to ensure completion of all HR processes for each unit
  • Partner with VP on providing data and implementing initiatives that support a diverse and inclusive culture
  • In consultation with the VP provide community members with HR consultation on human capital issues and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least 8-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education
  • Human Resources certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability working in a high-volume complex environment that requires confidentiality, a high level of collaboration, discretion, diplomacy and tact
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability in problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Strong knowledge of human resource policies, programs and procedures, along with a comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, state and local employment laws
  • Strong analytical aptitude required, along with advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
