Job Description
Since 1972, the mission of St. Francis Center is to feed, serve, and walk with the poor as a community of hope in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi. St. Francis Center seeks a Program Director to assume responsibility for the implementation of our Family Well-Being and Unhoused Well-Being Programs and the Resource Services Department ensuring compliance with the stated objectives. The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director.

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 7 am - 3:30 pm
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for current and future programs, partnerships, and staff
- Oversee and manage all aspects of program operations, ensuring effective implementation and adherence to organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
- Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients using a client-centered, trauma informed approach that includes motivational interviewing and harm reduction, for the purpose of providing full wraparound services to SFC guests.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program strategies and initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of St. Francis Center’s community.
- Supervise and support a team of program managers, case managers, and staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Collaborate with other departments and engage, recruit, and coordinate with external partners to provide additional services, resources, and advocacy efforts for program participants.
- Conduct regular assessments and analysis of program outcomes, making data-driven decisions to enhance program effectiveness and impact.
- Ensure that guests can receive the full scope of necessary services on-site, identifying gaps and engaging community partners to meet service needs
- Manage program budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and prepare reports for funders, stakeholders, and the Board of Directors.
- Provide guidance, manage the performance of individuals through ongoing coaching, feedback and development to motivate, engage and drive a high performing team
- Provide professional development opportunities for staff to ensure high-quality service delivery and growth within the organization.
- Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and community events to build relationships, raise awareness, and advocate for the needs of the St. Francis Center community.
- Interview, select, and train any new program and resource department team members
- Update and maintain weekly tracking of data for multiple programs and submit monthly reports to Associate Director and the Executive Director
- Work closely with management team members to ensure success with meeting strategic planning goals as they relate to programs
- Communicate effectively, and in timely manner, with management, peers, partners, and guests
- Through effective leadership, promote and foster a positive community culture of dignity, respect, and hope
- Other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Programs Department (50%)
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the programs department focused on serving unhoused and low-income in individuals, families, students, and seniors.
- Direct and facilitate the following programs: Family Food Pantry Program, Senior Brown Bag Program, Pantry Delivery Program, Breakfast Program, Mail Program, Youth Summer Camp Programs, Hygiene Program, Holiday Programs, Satellite Pantries, Pop Up Pantries, Youth Achievement Year Program, Diaper Program, and other various programs.
- Pilot and approve any new potential satellite pantry sites.
- Engage and attend meetings with various advocacy groups.
- Oversee annual summer camp and holiday program registration and events.
- Engage with Saturday volunteer groups to provide a meaningful and enjoyable volunteer experience in the absence of the volunteer coordinator
Resource Services Department (50%)
- Develop and grow the resource services department to include full case management services, a robust referral department, and eventually, mental health services
- Oversee the day-to-day operations; ensure appropriate delivery of case management, referral services, utilization review, and social work services.
- Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Demonstrated high level of organization and problem-solving skills to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive projects and programs. Ability to delegate and coordinate complex tasks with attention to both overall goals and specific details. Skill in applying organizational development, team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution techniques in group situations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide administrative case management, including direct contact with guests and other care providers, as well as administrative duties. Skilled in coordinating, directing, evaluating, and implementing case management services for individuals with multiple personal and life challenges (preferably vulnerable communities).
- Develop and execute long-term planning initiatives for Resource Services as part of SFC’s strategic plan.
Needed Skills:
- Positive and professional attitude with the ability to treat people with sensitivity and maintain confidentiality
- Analytical decision making skills to identify problems and solutions
- Multi-task with the ability to efficiently complete tasks in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work
- Fluent in Spanish/English preferred
- Data base management, computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to stand for up to 2 hours at time and lift, carry, pull up to 20lbs
- Successfully complete a background check and fingerprint screening.
- Proven experience (minimum of 2 years) in a leadership role within a nonprofit or social service organization, particularly working with vulnerable populations.
- Strong understanding of case management principles and experience overseeing case management services.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful programs, manage budgets, and evaluate program outcomes.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking abilities to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including clients, staff, funders, and community partners.
- Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for social justice and improving the lives of marginalized communities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and utilization of technology for program management and reporting.
