Position Summary
Seeking a tutor within the Access and Disability Services department to tutor students in one-on-one or small group setting.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous tutoring to students, both in-person and virtually, in group and individual settings
- Recognize student needs and abilities to engage students’ diverse learning styles.
- Engage with students to help them understand key concepts, answer student questions, and clarify areas of concern
- Provide students with resources, study strategies, and skills to encourage independent learning
- Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions
- Create and/or curate resources that address frequently-covered topics and questions, including online resources, workshops, videos, etc..
- Communicate student progress with appropriate student affairs personnel and/or faculty
- Guide student development and refer students to MCC resources as necessary
- Attend tutor training and complete observation hours
- Assist in training new tutors
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of course content in tutoring subject area
