SUMMARY
This position will facilitate the integration of nursing students into academic programs, the primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the comprehensive intake process of nursing students, tracking, ensuring the transition from application to enrollment. This position requires a combination of administrative skills, communication skills, and an understanding of nursing education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Update and maintain ready lists for all nursing programs.
- Monitor and review the plan of study for incoming nursing students and those on any of the nursing waitlists.
- Work with incoming students (and the Nursing Programs Director) to communicate program information, develop individual education development plans (EDPs) and to assign students.
- Collaborate with the Nursing Program Director and other Nursing Department personnel to review and evaluate nursing program policies and procedures.
- Oversee and update tracking tools/records for individual cohorts, including admission data, progression and graduation data, and information related to licensure.
- Provide information to prospective students and/or those removed from the ready list about application and/or re-application to the Nursing Programs.
- Participate in the Nursing Department and/or other Nursing Committee meetings as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by the Nursing Programs Director or Associate Dean.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
● Associates Degree preferred
Work Experience
● Minimum of two years’ experience clinical or administrative assisting experience required.
● Demonstrated knowledge of Practical and Associate Degree Nursing programs highly preferred.
● Experience working with a diverse student population is preferred.
Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PeopleSoft Student Administration (CWIS) or willingness to learn CWIS.
- Must be proficient in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability in excellent customer service skills including effective and pleasant communication, helpful manner both in person and on telephone or via written communication required.
- Must be able to use sound judgment in handling sensitive or difficult situations.
- Ability to organize work, handle multiple tasks, and meet timelines in a multi-project environment with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
● Ability to work in a high traffic, indoor environment
● Ability to work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
Mental Demands
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure while possessing mature judgment and flexibility in regards to interruptions and schedule changes.
