Job Description
This position provides financial aid expertise and leadership for office procedures to the Director of Financial Aid in the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive financial aid program. Responsibilities include:
- Establishing financial aid program operating procedures to administer federal and state financial aid programs, to include monitoring financial aid audit and program review information to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements and regulations.
- Implementing and administering federal and state financial aid programs and services by calculating, awarding, and transmitting student aid applications, grant, loan and disbursement data, and required reports utilizing various federal, state, and system application software packages to ensure high proficiency and accuracy in determining financial aid eligibility.
- Corresponding with students, families, staff and stakeholders to provide information regarding financial aid programs and eligibility requirements to ensure the consistent application of local, state, and federal regulations.
- Directing and coordinating work and office activities by providing lead work and training to Financial Aid and Information Center staff to ensure customer expectations are met with timely and accurate services.
- Serving as the institutional certifying official, interpret regulations, assist in policy development, establish operating procedures, and administer federal and state funded veteran’s programs while ensuring all eligible veterans receive timely and accurate educational benefits and the college remains in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- AAS degree
- 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in financial aid or a financial, business, or educational setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of FERPA policies and data practices
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and ability to research, interpret and apply the regulations to practices in the financial aid department
- Work experience assisting a Financial Aid Director in an educational institution
- Experience using ISRS (Integrated Student Registration System) and Department of Education software
- Experience in public speaking to give group presentations
- Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of diverse cultures and populations
