Director of School Services Overview
Join our dedicated team as the Director of School Services at Melmark New England, where you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing administrative, operational, and health services in our school settings. This position requires a versatile leader capable of overseeing quality assurance, licensing, and certification requirements, while also providing direct treatment services and supervision across all programs. You will work closely with Massachusetts state personnel, develop new programs, and lead staff hiring, training, and supervision efforts. This role is perfect for someone with senior-level clinical skills and the ability to manage multiple regulatory standards, all while demonstrating a deep commitment to our mission.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, behavioral psychology, or a related field
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at the Master’s level or board-eligible
- Special Education certification issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) preferred
- Extensive experience with the principles and application of Applied Behavior Analysis
- Minimum of ten (10) years of administrative and organizational supervision in an applied community setting
Director of School Services Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Director of Day Services with the development and implementation of administrative, operational, and health services in school settings
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance across service delivery and oversee licensing and certification requirements
- Develop new programs, including hiring, training, and supervising new staff
- Obtain appropriate licensure for school services, including Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Massachusetts Department of Public Health approval
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of classroom educational services and implementation and monitoring of all behavioral programming
- Review and ensure appropriate staffing resources to deliver each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP)
- Ensure implementation of the curriculum in conjunction with Lead Special Education Teachers and Curriculum Coordinators
- Supervise, evaluate, and take corrective action for Educational ABA Counselors and education support staff
- Implement highly technical clinical and teaching programs, remaining alert, attentive, and ready to respond to students’ needs
- Provide leadership, direction, and support through visibility in the program and training of all subordinates
- Maintain communication with family members and address questions/concerns in a timely, respectful, and responsive manner
- Participate in research by completing a minimum of one applied project with support from the clinical department per year
- Participate in professional development activities including local workshops and conferences
