The Stillwater Police Department Reserve Unit is composed of a dedicated group of individuals from Stillwater and surrounding areas. No law enforcement experience, training, or education is required. Stillwater Police Reserve Officers are non-sworn, non-paid, uniformed volunteer members of the Police Department. The purpose of the Reserve Unit is to provide support services during special events, conduct squad patrol and assist the Police Department when additional personnel is needed. Some of our current Reserve Officers are involved in the Reserve Unit to assist them in their law enforcement education/experience.

In this role you will: Assist in the maintenance of law and order, the detection and prevention of crime, the direction and control of citizen and motor vehicle traffic. Provide effective parking control throughout the City of Stillwater. Assist patrol officers with the duties of scene security or paperwork completion (tow sheets, animal forms, etc.).

 

Typical Qualifications

 

Interest in the criminal justice system.

Knowledge in animal control techniques and practices.

Thorough knowledge of local parking and nuisance ordinances.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to write accurate and complete reports of activities and investigations.

Ability to deal effectively with the public in a professional manner.

Ability to handle requests for police assistance both in person and via telephone.

Ability to effectively communicate with dispatch and officers via the radio.
