Research Program Assistant
Job Description
We are currently seeking Research Program Assistants to assist study management with data collection and implementation for several cross-sectional and longitudinal projects. Topics of research include sex work, drug checking, substance use and HIV/STI risk, and rural health disparities among people who inject drugs. Research Program Assistants will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other research team members (e.g., Study Directors and faculty) to support the conduct of the research. The primary role of the Research Program Assistant is to assist senior staff prepare for recruitment and subsequently oversee daily data collection. The role includes administrative responsibilities and fieldwork that occurs primarily during weekdays but may include weekend and evening hours. The incumbent will report to each study’s management team (PIs, Co-Is, Coordinators, etc.).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Administrative Tasks
- Order and maintain supplies for office staff/faculty and for multiple, complex, research studies.
- Develop and maintain a new supply database; use the database to oversee all aspects of R01 study procurement.
Field Tasks
- Operate a 30ft RV, driving to various recruitment locations throughout Baltimore City to recruit, interview, and COVID test study participants (SHOUT study).
- Assist the Field Supervisor with stocking and organizing interview materials and cleaning the van at the end of the shift.
- Transport study vehicles between multiple destinations as required (i.e., mechanic, RV and van service locations, dealerships, emissions testing.).
- Transport biological specimens to lab.
- Execute standard analyses and produce ad hoc reports related to study recruitment and retention.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have reliable transportation.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
- Some related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college courses preferred.
- Prior experience working in Baltimore City, knowledge of working with diverse populations, and experience conducting outreach and field work preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($19.13 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)
