The Public Relations Specialist supports CHS’ media, social media and public relations strategies and initiatives to elevate CHS’ position and reputation, and to support client recruitment, talent recruitment and constituent engagement efforts. Overall, the Public Relations Specialist contributes to the CHS high-performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, child welfare, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions
1. Support CHS’ media, social media and public relations strategies and initiatives to elevate CHS’ position and reputation, and to support client recruitment, talent recruitment and constituent engagement efforts.
- Cultivate media contacts to increase public visibility of CHS, and maintain media contact lists.
- Coordinate media relations initiatives, including developing, producing and distributing media releases, public service announcements and advertisements.
- Monitor, track and analyze media coverage, including the management of media reports.
- Partner with program and support teams to identify and pursue media opportunities.
- Develop and coordinate public relations strategies and initiatives to elevate CHS’ reputation in regions and throughout the state.
- Provide strategic and tactical social media support to CHS’ regions and programs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies.
- Monitor, track and analyze digital marketing efforts, and make recommendations based on data.
- Create social media content to driven to increase engagement and brand awareness for CHS.
- Participate in the quality management process.
- Maintain media room on the CHS website.
- Lead the internal distribution of media hits to ensure internal and external stakeholder awareness of coverage.
- Uphold and protect the CHS brand.
- Monitor industry news to identify and pursue opportunities to pitch CHS.
- Monitor news and trends related to CHS, CHS leaders, the child welfare industry and related causes.
2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
- Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
- Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.
Job Qualifications
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public relations, Communications, Journalism or related field from an accredited university, required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in media relations with proven results, required.
- Experience managing a business/brand social media presence, required.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, required.
- Experience working in a results-oriented team, required.
- Demonstrated success in organic social media marketing, preferred.
- Experience working in paid digital media strategies, preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in non-profit and/ or agency setting, preferred.
Competencies
Knowledge of:
- SOCIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY | MEDIA LANDSCAPE | MEDIA AND DIGITAL MEDIA BEST PRACTICES
Skills and Proficiency in:
- Cision, Wordpress, Facebook Ads Manager, Paid digital marketing, email distribution systems
- Social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
- Strong organizational, project management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
