Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual to assist with data collection, organization, and dissemination, among other duties, for several sponsored sport science-related research projects related to wearable technologies and sports medicine. In particular, this position will assist with data management and manuscript development using very large datasets, and work with industry partners for data using wearable sensors and cloud-based systems. This individual will work with a team of investigators and collaborative researchers within the Michigan Performance Research (MiPR) Laboratory at The University of Michigan. The successful candidate will be based at the School of Kinesiology in Ann Arbor, MI.
Responsibilities*
The postdoctoral fellow will focus full time on MiPR research initiatives including 1.) analyze data for the purpose of data dissemination, 2.) assist faculty on specific research projects focused on wearable technologies and sports medicine applications, 3.) collaborate with the MPR lab team and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the lab, 4.) support PI and others in development of specific analysis plans and data visualization, 5.) data management and communication with industry sponsors.
- 30% effort to analyzing previously collected data for the purpose of data dissemination in the form of manuscripts and abstracts
- 30% effort to assisting faculty on specific research projects focused on wearable technologies and sports medicine applications,
- 20% effort collaborate with the MPR lab team and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
- 10% effort to support PI and others in development of specific analysis plans and data visualization
- 10% effort to data management and communication with industry sponsors
Required Qualifications*
Requirements for this position are:
- PhD degree in Kinesiology related field, Data Science, Statistical Science, Engineering, or other related discipline in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position.
- Strong programming skills in a statistical language (e.g. R) and database management/programming (e.g. SQL, Python, Oracle)
- Demonstrated experience in database management and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerVI)
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in data management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with others in a dynamic, collaborative environment are required.
- Applicants with prior research experience will be given preference.
Additional Information
The position is available immediately and is term-limited, funded for 1-year; the initial appointment may be extended depending the availability of research funds and successful performance in the role.
