Position Summary
The CEO is a full-time position that leads the day-to-day management and operations of all programs and services to ensure that the mission, strategy, values and goals of BBBS of Greater Chattanooga are achieved. The CEO oversees all administrative and fiduciary functions and works closely and collaboratively with the Board of Directors to fundraise and implement all policy decisions. The CEO motivates, leads, and inspires the staff and sustains a highly professional work environment. This position reports directly to the BBBS Board President and Board of Directors.
Essential Job Duties
Operations
- Develop and drive the business strategy of the organization within the context of the nationwide strategic direction.
- Manage the agency’s budget and ensures fiscal discipline, budgetary control and financial integrity of all functions.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures for sound fiscal management and internal controls, in alignment with BBBSA’s Standards of Practice.
- Uses performance metrics, quality indicators, and BBBSA standards to guide operational decision making.
- Provide vision and oversight for all goals, objectives, and activities as outline in the operational and strategic plan.
- Work closely with other organizations and government agencies with shared interests in those served by BBBS and promote inter-organizational collaborative partnerships.
Staff and Board Development
- Drives a collaborative process with the Board of Directors and staff.
- Cultivates a strong Board of Directors willing to lead and contribute to the fund development success of the organization. Provides support for board member recruitment, scheduling meetings and providing agency materials to board members. Provides Board Member orientation and ensures Board Members have the support and resources needed to be utilized and successful.
- Provide leadership to and maintain strong relationships with the Board of Directors, committees, and community advisors.
- Attracts, retains, develops and leverages staff talent. Promotes a supportive workplace culture and creates opportunities for professional development.
- Implement a comprehensive staff recruitment, engagement and retention strategy.
- Develop and administer an effective performance management system for all employees that includes annual goal setting and periodic evaluations
- Works closely with the Board and senior staff in all areas of strategic planning, including organizational growth and change management, with the ability to plan and act ahead of potential impacts.
Programs
- Achieve programmatic excellence by establishing operational benchmarks, setting timelines, and obtaining the resources needed to achieve strategic goals.
- Accountable for programming meeting the requirements of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and supporting strategies outlined by the Board.
- Participate in nationwide initiatives, programmatic innovations, best practices and quality standards; adapt these standards to create maximum impact within the local agency’s environment.
- Establish accountability metrics in alignment with BBBSA’s Standards of Practice for service delivery, with a priority on child safety.
- Ensures that comprehensive marketing strategies are developed to attract, engage, and mobilize significant numbers of volunteer mentors.
Marketing and Fund Development
- Responsible for ensuring the ongoing viability of the agency by executing a fund development program that ensures the long term financial goals of the organization can be met.
- Executive a comprehensive Fund Development Plan that includes individual and major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, grants, events and corporate sponsorships.
- Build loyal and long-term relationships with key donor segments based on mission, cultivation and stewardship, program outcomes and sound fiscal management.
- Leads the organization in the development and maintenance of strong, long-term relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate donors/funders.
- Maintains a personal portfolio of top donors and prospects, and solicits and closes major gifts.
- Represents Big Brothers Big Sisters at external partnership events and with the media. Positively influences partners, the media, and elected officials to generate volunteers, donors and other resources.
- Responsible for being visible in the community to develop mutually beneficial partnerships. This includes, but is not limited to, United Way, school systems, and other partnerships with common interest groups that support health mentoring relationships.
- Raise the organization’s public profile by 1- serving as the agency’s spokesperson and advocate and 2- serving as a visible, visionary and influential leader in the community.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree
- Prior Leadership experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Valid driver’s license
