Adjunct Faculty, School of Accountancy

Job Description

Adjunct faculty members provide face-to-face, hybrid, and online course instruction including all aspects of course administration as an instructor of record.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to class schedules as posted.
  • Communicate course requirements to students.
  • Teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed.
  • Be available to assigned students for support and course advising including exams, required remediation, and summative evaluations.
  • Be collaborative with other CBE faculty as well as the Director to plan, implement, and evaluate each course offering taught to maintain quality and effectiveness.
  • Follow the policies and procedures of the CBE and the University of Southern Mississippi.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications
Master degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in accounting. Should be AACSB qualified for being an instructor of record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Candidate must have earned 18 graduate hours or have significant and documented work experience in the teaching field (e.g., MGT, ACC, FIN, or MKT, etc.).
  • The ability to deliver accurate, concise, and quality communication (verbal and written) in timely manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other faculty in the unit.
  • The ability to navigate and use learning management systems for teaching, such as Canvas, as well as other technological communications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in teaching strategies and techniques for diverse student populations

 


Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited program; professional experience in accounting; evidence of scholarly research, certification, and experience in teaching hybrid/flipped/online classes are plusses.
