POSITION TITLE: Senior Manager, Accounts Payable
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager of Accounts Payable will be responsible for the oversight the Institute's Accounts Payable functions, with a focus on creating strategies to streamline the end-to-end processes, increasing transparency and communication with stakeholders, and developing measurable key metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Oversees operations of the Accounts Payable team and related processes to ensure that the Institute's obligations are settled timely, inclusive of all tax reporting, withholdings, and escheatment responsibilities.
- Remains current as a subject matter expert for Accounts Payable best practices in order to establish and enforce SOX compliant internal controls to minimize financial and operational risk.
- Performs complex analyses for organizational stakeholders as well as ad hoc, management reporting.
- Establishes measurable and reportable key metrics for areas of responsibility and drives team achievement of metric-based goals.
- Develops Accounts Payable SOPs through collaboration with all impacted organizational stakeholders.
- Builds strong relationships with all stakeholders; solves problems using traditional and creative methods, drives issues to closure with a sense of urgency, and meets resistance with tact, sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Supports and encourages team development; evaluates performance and workload; implements change to improve productivity and increase efficiency; and consistently capitalizes on opportunities to recognize or coach Accounts Payable leadership and team members to higher performance.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Admin or a related field or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and/or experience.
- 8-10 years of Accounts Payable experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Advanced understanding of accounting principles.
- Advanced understanding of Supplier enablement, Workday, ACH, Corporate Credit card program, and e-invoicing.
- Advanced understanding of Accounts Payable systems and the related software and processes to support day-to-day activities (Procurement, Cash Reconciliations, E-payable solutions).
- Knowledge of State Tax and Usage Laws.
- IRS regulations for 1099 and W-2 reporting.
- IRS regulations for 1042 and W8 reporting
- SAS115 and Internal Controls for non-profit organizations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Must possess a high degree of self-reliance, flexibility, and initiative.
- This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus.
COMPENSATION:
The expected hiring range for this position is $125,000 to $180,000/annually, commensurate with experience.
