About Us
CalfeeCCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2019, with a mission to revitalize the legacy of the historic Calfee Training School, which educated African Americans in Pulaski from 1894-1966. The school faced severe underfunding from Jim Crow segregation and was part of two lawsuits that led to the Brown v. Board of Education (1954) Supreme Court decision that eventually desegregated schools nationally. The CalfeeCCC is a multipurpose center that will include the CAC, an African American Heritage Center, the Harmon Early Learning Center for childcare, a commercial-grade community kitchen, an event center, and a digital lab that will serve the community's present needs in order to create a stronger future for the community. A 15-member Board of Directors, the majority of whom attended Calfee Training School or are their family members, oversees the work of the CalfeeCCC.
