Position Summary

The primary task of the Part-time Bus Driver at Southern Union State Community College is to be responsible for safely operating the bus according to a set schedule. He/she must ensure that the bus is in good operating condition at all times, transport passengers as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, regulations and rules of conduct.

Salary: $22.44/hr

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operate the bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
  2. Transport students, faculty, and staff to special events, such as field trips or sporting events. 
  3. Perform safety and maintenance checks before trips.
  4. Clean the bus as scheduled and/or required.
  5. Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored.
  6. Advise the Director of Maintenance of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  7. Pick up and deliver passengers as per a set schedule.
  8. Take attendance on the bus.
  9. Ensure passengers are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers.
  10. Immediately report all accidents and incidents to Director of Maintenance.

 

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Commercial Driver license (CDL) with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement
  3. Must have a good driving record and be insurable
  4. Two (2) years’ experience driving a commercial bus
