JOB TITLE: Director of Operations
REPORTS TO: Medical Director
GENERAL FUNCTION: In collaboration with the Medical Director and respective department heads, the Director of Operations will lead, develop, improve, and measure efficacy of processes that support delivery of care to patients of Salish Cancer Center. The Operations Director will deploy initiatives to support strategic growth of the business through adding new service lines and deploying strategies that support increased quality of care, competitive patient care offerings, and innovative models of care within the market. This role will collaborate with administrative department heads to compile, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations based upon qualitative and quantitative data about practice operations, performance, and opportunities for advancement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Direct and oversee operational growth initiatives to include implementation of new service lines, advancing the organization’s reach within the market, and all correlated marketing activities.
- Manage organizational operational responsibilities such as process improvement initiatives, entity compliance, and risk management.
- Responsible for the supervision, evaluation, training, and performance management of assigned departmental staff.
- Ensure the most effective operations of the cancer center through program development, process improvement and coordination/integration of processes with other departments.
- Participate in reviewing and maintaining ancillary services and maintenance contracts to ensure the clinic is obtaining competitive pricing.
- Standardize services, processes, resources, and practice to improve efficiency.
- Define and achieve financial targets in support of business goals of the institution.
- Evaluate organizational functions and structures to best determine the allocation and utilization of resources.
- Prepare justification or develop alternatives for cost containment/reduction, ensuring alignment with approved annual budgets.
- Establish service standards for the organization that are compatible with and lead to success in achieving financial goals.
- Contribute to and support the strengthening of an organizational culture that provides a safe, satisfying, and enriching environment for employees and provides a qualified, competent staff to meet patient needs.
- Adhere to internal policy, process, and procedure for knowledge management to ensure effective safeguards are in place for transitions and turnover at the organization.
- Support implementation of initiatives lead by other department heads to ensure alignment with overall organization strategy is in place.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE): Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration required. Minimum of seven (7) years of recent Oncology senior leadership and management experience is preferred. Ten (10) years of senior healthcare management experience in total strongly preferred. Management experience must include extensive experience with project management, strong analytics and communications skills, experience with managing growth initiatives for a healthcare organization, and extensive experience with employee management. Strong preference will be given to candidates with recognized certification or formal training in leadership, project management, analytics, and/or operations management.
