Position Summary

The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program Coordinator position supports the academic leadership team in the curriculum development, coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of CTE programs. This position contributes to CTE student success through coordination with Student Affairs staff (e.g., recruitment, marketing, advising, registration, retention), coordination with faculty (e.g., curriculum development and evaluation), and coordination with Workforce Development staff (e.g., work-based learning, employer relationships, job fairs) to ensure that CTE programs’ objectives are met. This position partners with deans, chairs, and Institutional Research to develop metrics and reports to monitor CTE programs and student access and success. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, problem solving, and collaboration skills, and takes initiative, working well independently and in groups.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assists the AVPAA, deans, and chairs in the program planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of CTE program initiatives.
  • Manages the Programs of Study (POS) cycle when any CTE program undergoes this initiative, including planning consultant meetings, attending CD&R meetings in which POS courses and programs will be discussed/approved, and preparing, writing, and submitting the POS applications to ICCB.
  • Collects data for and writes Perkins required reports. Assists in the Perkins grant application and in the management of the Perkins budget by tracking expenditures and activities.
  • Supports the CTE departments in the recruitment and marketing of the program by coordinating with the recruitment office, faculty, and the Office of Marketing and Public Relations, including facilitating the creation of marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Organizes and coordinates information sessions and other events to provide opportunities for the community to learn about CTE programs.
  • Supports the CTE departments in forming their program Advisory Committees while continually engaging in workforce development activities to expand the employer networks for the departments.
  • Keeps an updated and readily available directory of Advisory Committees’ members. 
  • Coordinates with the Student Affairs departments for student support activities, such as advising, recruitment, registration, retention, career planning, etc. that benefit CTE programs and their students, and disseminates information to CTE students regarding support services available from the College.
  • Works with the Institutional Research office to monitor enrollment, persistence, completion, and other performance metrics in the CTE programs. Reports findings to the AVPAA, deans and department chairs and help them identify enrollment management and performance strategies. 
  • Partners with Workforce Development in the recruitment of employers for work-based learning and company sponsorships. Works with the Coordinator of Career Services and faculty to promote and organize work-based learning such as apprenticeships and internships, and to arrange employer site visits.
  • Organizes team-building competition trips such as SkillsUSA, by coordinating with faculty, students, administrators, and event organizers.
  • Supports the Deans in planning for their CTE program needs such as facilities, equipment, furniture, and professional development opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the AVPAA.
  • Participates in committees or ad hoc teams that need CTE program representation

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize while handling multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, handle confidential information and function with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
