Overview

NV5 Geospatial is seeking a GIS Specialist to work directly with its federal government client. The successful candidate will support mobile GIS application development projects and other GIS projects, including defining product features, manage the product backlog, bugs, and tasks in Microsoft Azure DevOps software. Additional work may include general GIS support, Python scripting, documenting requirements, release notes, user guides, training documentation.

Work Environment:

    Location is flexible: NV5 Portland, OR office or work from home considered
  • Travel < 20% of the time

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to Agile GIS software development projects, including:
    • Create and maintain a work log (e.g., user stories, bugs, tasks, etc.)
    • Maintain Microsoft Azure DevOps software in relation to the development of a GIS applications (e.g., assign work to team members, track tasks, validate work).
  • Communicate and work with various system "clients" such as project leads and data stewards to:
    • Help interpret business needs into system content and functionality.
    • Support mobile GIS trainings on site at government offices.
  • Product management of current mobile applications on tasks, bugs, and issues.
  • Present in organized manner for product owners.
  • Provide technical, operational, and troubleshooting support to development team and field staff in the use of mobile mapping and related GIS Desktop and Web GIS applications.
  • Collaborate with federal client interdisciplinary teams (e.g., IT Security, IT System Engineers, GIS Data Stewards, etc.).
  • Fully document all work needed or completed.
  • Participate in the monthly/weekly client conference calls and in-person meetings.
  • Stay current with the GIS industry (including but not limited to attending vendor conferences, career development training, role development training, as necessary).
Qualifications

Competencies & Skills:

  • Ability to work well within a team/hybrid environment.
  • Ability to apply creative solutions and strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

The position requires demonstrated professional experience in/with the following:

  • Experience managing software development teams and execute software development life cycle.
  • Working with ESRI Suite of software including ESRI ArcGIS desktop, web and/or mobile products.
  • Experience managing software development deployments.
  • Developing written technical documentation (such as release notes, software requirements, user guides and configuration management, etc.).

Experience/Skills Preferred (in addition to requirements):

  • Project management experience.
  • Agile/Scrum Master experience (Scrum Master certification is a plus).
  • Azure DevOps software experience.
  • Mobile GIS products experience (e.g., ESRI, ArcGIS Field Maps, ESRI Collector, ESRI Survey123).
  • Experience developing products for external clients.
  • Experience writing geoprocessing scripts and configuring Web GIS applications.
