Community Health Educator

Job Description

We are seeking a Health Educator for The Department of Oncology, Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) program.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implements education and outreach activities to the populations of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
  • Translates print materials, including study and educational materials, into languish understandable to non-medical populations
  • Conducts educational sessions to teach members of the community the basics of cancer prevention and control.
  • Disseminates health and cancer education materials to public, health care providers, and community organizations/partners.
  • Participates in scheduled COE community events to disseminate cancer risk reduction and screening information.
  • Establishes trusting relationships with community members and organizations while providing general support and encouragement
  • Maintains extensive knowledge about community resources and social supports appropriate to needs of community members and partners.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
