The part-time Senior Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department along side the Human Resources Generalist. This position is responsible for administering HR policies, procedures and programs; supporting the department’s efforts in employee relations, employee onboarding, benefit administration, leaves, general administrative tasks, oversight of the human resource information system, recruitment efforts, as well as enforcement of company policies and practices; and supporting the company’s efforts of employee retention, managing employee performance, and organizational development. You will report directly to the President/CEO and will work closely with the Leadership Team and managers.

Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) is a small, not-for-profit trade association based in Roseville MN. ATA has under 50 employees, most who are working remotely, across 10+ states. This position offers part-time work with flexible scheduling, but in a serious HR capacity that is employee-focused. Our HR department is fully remote although there will be times in-person meetings are necessary. The Senior Human Resource Generalist is expected to work between 15 and 25 hours per week, as workload can fluctuate with this position, usually with a Monday – Thursday schedule.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represents the culture, core values, and spirit of ATA and HR department while maintaining complete confidentiality in all things
  • Administer, and may lead, major HR initiatives/projects with HR team such as annual compensation increases, annual open enrollment plan selection and preparation, staff restructuring and development, end of year requirements, legal updates, etc.
  • Advises on select HR topics by need or request which may include: policy interpretation and application, employee relation issues, administration of benefits or compliance, internal communication, workers compensation or unemployment situations, etc.
  • Supports HR team by serving as backup to the HR Generalist in all responsibilities, and collaborating with HR Generalist on department goals and tasks
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues to include conflict resolution, harassment investigations, wage complaints, employee disputes, attendance issues, and general questions
  • Manages employee performance with managers and advises in the corrective action process
  • Administers benefit programs in collaboration with HR Generalist and payroll team including life, health, dental and disability insurances, retirement plan, employee assistance, PTO, and leaves
  • Becomes experienced in HRIS/Payroll system, Paylocity, for completion of HR tasks and advisement of employees and managers in this system
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Responsible for the completion of specific projects as directed by the President/CEO. Projects may include:
  • Handbook or policy revisions or creation of policies
  • Gathering and analysis of compensation data
  • Review of commission/bonus plans
  • Creation of staff surveys
  • Compilation of HR reports and benchmarking
  • Gathering of information for budgeting
  • Keeps tabs on the culture and morale by connecting with employees and managers
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Serves as a member of the payroll team in payroll processing. Responsible for parts of payroll administration including interpreting company rules and making judgement calls on payroll/HR policies, handling employee issues and enforcing policies, reviewing checks, answering employee questions. Must have working knowledge of the payroll process and applicable laws. Is a backup for payroll processing.
  • Collaborates with outside resources such as HR Associations or legal
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, or related field; and 7+ years’ experience in Human Resources PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certifications a bonus
  • Previous management experience a plus
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Human Resources employment laws, pending legislation, and best practices within HR
  • Experience working with HRIS system as an administrator. Preference for experience with Paylocity
  • The ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues is required
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required
  • The ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports and to plan, coordinate and administer complex administrative systems and processes is necessary
  • Operational knowledge of payroll policies, regulations and procedures and a working knowledge of the ATA benefit plans, insurance and retirement policies, regulations and procedures are required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with employee information, company decisions, or other projects where discretion is needed
  • The ability to work with frequent, established deadlines
  • Organizational and analytical skills are required
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required
  • The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals is required. Employee development and performance management skills are essential
  • Ability to keep up and build relationships remotely
  • Ability to influence and persuade management, and convey difficult/ challenging messages
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and ability to learn new software as required
  • Able to move about the building and within workstations; and to sit for long periods of time
  • Able to operate a computer, telephone, copier and other office equipment
  • In-office work and travel as requested
  • Eligible for full-time remote with professional home workspace available. Must reside local to ATA headquarters
