Job Description:
The Software Engineer II is responsible for the development & maintenance of SUNY Westchester Community College's software systems. The incumbent will support the applications that support student success: college readiness, enrollment management, retention, and completion. The incumbent will troubleshoot end user problems and provide quality solutions; analyze end-user needs, document requirements and translate into proper system design specifications; apply the appropriate life cycle methodology; develop and maintain computer objects, classes, methods and application packages; develop queries and reports; test application, database, and software upgrades.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.* A Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of recent (within the last 7 years) experience (pre- or post-degree) designing and programming application software in at least one of the following languages: Java, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL, JavaScript, UNIX Shell Script, or Perl.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice in all college policies, practices, and personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Functional and technical knowledge of PeopleSoft, Degree Works, Ad Astra, OnBase, CRM, Tableau. Proficiency in Windows, SQL Server, Apache, WebLogic, XML, LDAP and PeopleSoft development tools (PeopleCode, PeopleTools, App Engine, Query, & SQR) Microsoft PowerApps are also preferred skills. Takes the initiative in continuously identifying and pursuing personal development opportunities. Uses a combination of technology, process and people skills to help teams solve problems.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $ 88,310. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $116,191. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
