Job Description:
The History of Philosophy Forum at the University of Notre Dame (http://historyofphilosophy.nd.edu) invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the History of Philosophy. The position begins August 1, 2025, and is renewable for up to three years.  The Fellow will teach a 1-1 load and receive a competitive salary, plus a $2000 budget for research expenses. Fellows are expected to be in residence at the University of Notre Dame during the academic year, and to participate actively in the academic life of the University, the Philosophy Department and the History of Philosophy Forum.

We invite applications from doctoral students and recent graduates in philosophy who are engaged in research in any area of the history of philosophy. Teaching: The Fellow will teach one undergraduate course each semester for the Philosophy Department. The theme and scope of the course, generally within the Fellow’s area of expertise, will be decided together with the Department’s Chair.

Service: The Fellow will contribute to the development of a new History of Philosophy Forum program geared towards mentoring advanced undergraduates in research and writing.  The Fellow will also be expected to participate in the History of Philosophy Forum’s and the Philosophy Department’s academic events, workshops, and colloquia.

Further materials (including writing sample, teaching portfolio, and reference letters) will be requested from applicants invited to interview for the position.
