Primary Duties

1. Provides leadership and management of counseling, disability, and prevention services including policy and program development, implementation, services, and programming. 

2. Supervises and controls all budgetary matters as they relate to the Office of Wellbeing & Accessibility prepares annual and biennial budget requests, approves all purchase orders and otherwise monitors department budget expenditures and limits expenditures to budgeted levels.

3. Supervises and staffs the Office of Wellbeing & Accessibility. Performs all normal supervisory functions including identification of office objectives, direction setting, and provision of feedback including the timely completion of performance evaluations.

4. Provides direct services in personal counseling, group counseling, and ADA services, to students, at approximately 10 hours per week, and maintains mental health licensure status in Wyoming

5. Manages in-person and online counseling services for students. Remains knowledgeable about best practices and laws regarding counseling and mental health services. Responsible for providing counseling supervision in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board to any provisionally licensed counselor, including interns.

6. Provides crisis counseling and intervention as necessary. Coordinates and/or responds to crisis calls from students, college personnel, or the contracted crisis service, at any hour.

7. Prepares, presents, and assists in providing presentations, special programs, events, workshops and seminars to the campus community. Identifies the need for additional services or programs for Western students and makes arrangements for an annual programming schedule.

8. Provides outreach programming on behalf of the Office of Wellbeing & Accessibility to the college. Oversees the drug, alcohol, and prevention programming for the college. Remains knowledgeable on trends in student development and supporting the “whole” student.

9. Responsible for serving as the chair of the drug and alcohol prevention committee on campus.

10. Oversees the student ADA Program. Remains knowledgeable about laws related to the service of students with disabilities. Serves as a contact for students with disabilities; refers students to other college programs for services as appropriate.

11. Serves as a permanent member of Western’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).

12. Serves as Western’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students.

13. Participates in and supports all student success service functions as appropriate.

14. Represents the college within the local, regional, and state mental health community.

15. Responsible for program review, data collection, and documentation utilizing data as appropriate. Maintains data regarding Wellbeing & Accessibility services including numbers served and types of contacts.
1. Graduation from CACREP, CSWE, or CORE accredited program with a Master’s degree in counseling, or other related field that is licensable in Wyoming as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • a. If not presently licensed in Wyoming, the applicant must meet the educational requirements noted above. Additionally the applicant must agree to immediately gain provisional licensure and secure supervision until such time as to obtain Wyoming Licensed Mental Health Provider status. Applicant will be required to abide by the supervision requirements established in the Rules of the Wyoming Health Professions Licensing Board for provisional licensing. 
  • b. If licensed in another state, the applicant should contact the Wyoming Mental Health Professional Licensing Board to discuss reciprocity. The applicant would need to obtain licensure status in the state of Wyoming by the onset of the contract.
4. Five years of previous position-specific or position related work experience.
5. Three years of experience in supervision and managing a department.
2. Demonstrates effective therapeutic/counseling skills.
3. Sound knowledge of counseling theory and general principles and practices in counseling.

1. Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counseling/Mental Health Counseling.
2. Experience counseling in a higher education setting.
3. Excellent organizational, verbal and supervisory skills.
The starting salary for this position is $67,325.
