Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs seeks a highly skilled Coordinator to support initiatives for faculty development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing events and communications for new and existing faculty; assisting with programs for academic administrators; and providing support for the University of Maryland Retired Faculty Association (UMDRFA). The Coordinator works with the Assistant Director for Faculty Development and Communications and the Faculty Affairs team to maintain general programming and the office as a whole. The position demands frequent outreach to officials and faculty across campus to gather and disseminate information and to encourage support for initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of UMD campus or other higher education experience directly related to the responsibilities of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated aptitude for cultivating good working relationships with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience with event management is required.
  • Attention to detail is essential, including proficiency with editing and proofreading.
  • Extensive experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, and Adobe programs.
  • Proven ability to facilitate and monitor several programs running simultaneously.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience with University of Maryland faculty personnel systems and communications applications, such as Eventbrite, Canva, and MailChimp.
  • Project and/or program management and prior work in administrative support is preferred.

Additional Information:

Salary range $56,000-$70,000.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment, and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
