Medical Informatics Analyst, Associate

Job Description

Your Role

The rating model team supports large group pricing through model programming, data validation and general model support for users. The Medical Informatics Analyst will report to the Actuary Manager. In this role you will execute the monthly data load process to collect and validate data from multiple sources into the rating model database and refresh the rating factor dashboard. You will execute batch runs to produce rating model output on the entire book of business. You will assist in implementing rating model changes including rating methodology changes, data enhancements, state and federal legislation, in addition to communicating current and proposed rating methodologies amongst stakeholders.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct independent analysis of low complexity under moderate supervision and guidance
  • Develop documentation and create and execute workplans for analyses of low complexity
  • Conduct analysis of moderate complexity by following explicit instructions provided by Medical Informatics Analyst II/III/IV/V, supervisor or manager
  • Support the development of reports and analyses by validating, testing, and documenting analytical processes and completing other defined, related tasks
  • Create and distribute previously established, routine reports to multiple departments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues and update existing tools
  • Identify and resolve gaps in process efficiency and key controls
  • Test model changes
  • Reconcile monthly data

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires 0-2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires Intermediate Excel skills
  • SQL relational database experience preferred, with further preference for T-SQL
  • VBA programming for Excel and experience using ADO to retrieve and manipulate datasets preferred
  • SAS programming experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Python and PowerBI is preferred

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 31.73 to $ 44.41 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
