Campus Safety Officer
Job Description
Responds to incidents on campus, determine actions to take, and document complete written records of incidents to meet Federal and University required requirements, and provide immediate updates to Residence Life and the Chief of Campus Safety. Respond to call for services for vehicle lockouts, battery jumpstarts,. Complete unlock and/or lock campus buildings and classrooms as directed and scheduled, including checking windows, doors, equipment, heating/cooling and other areas. Ensure parking policy enforcement efforts are enforced daily. Enforce University policies, guidelines, and rules particularly those related to or specifically drafted for the assigned housing community. Perform general community policing duties. Provide safety of all students, staff, and visitors of the campus.
Must provide first class customer service , utilizing excellent verbal skills when dealing with the public. Complete clear and concise incident reports. Understands the value of continued effort through adversity to help the team realize long term goals.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum requirements: Efficiently and effectively utilize a computer and related software, must have an appropriate drivers license valid for the state of North Carolina. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent GED.
Preferred Education & Experience: Knowledge of Law Enforcement, criminal investigations, emergency management, parking and traffic control, crowd control techniques and prior experience in related or other fields (i.e. emergency services, security, and law enforcement). Bachelors Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a Campus Safety or Security related field.
This position will a work schedule of 2-3-2, 12 hour shifts from 4:00pm-4:00am.
Campus Safety provides service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
