The research focus of the laboratory is on the dissection of the molecular biology of erythroid leukemogenesis and the discovery of novel combinational therapies to effectively eliminate erythroleukemic cells in chronic and acute myeloid malignancies. Current projects involve in vitro experiments using CRISPR-Cas9 mediated gene editing, CRISPR-Cas9 knockout screens, progenitor, growth and apoptosis assays, flow cytometry, protein extraction, western blotting, and drug screens. Lab projects also involve a significant amount of work with immunocompromised mice (NSG and NSGS) using cell line- and patient-derived MDS and AML xenograft models and transgenic mice. Mouse experiments will involve leukemic cell line and primary sample engraftment, competitive transplantations, blood draws, in vivo imaging, transgenic mice breeding, harvesting, tissue collection, and processing.

  • Participates in mice experiments (breeding, leukemic cells engraftment, mice treatment via intraperitoneal and intravenous injections and oral gavage, blood draws, tissue collection, and processing).
  • Applies analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
  • Maintains accurate and current data records.
  • Maintains freezer stock and supply inventory.
