This position is to protect the hospital's assets and human resources in the interest of loss prevention, life safety and quality patient care. The Police Department has a Department objective of Keeping You Safe.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Pennsylvania ACT 235 Certification.

3. Pennsylvania ACT 501 Certification within 6 months of hire.

4. Valid Drivers License

5. Child Abuse History Clearance, Child Abuse FBI Fingerprinting, PA State Background Check. Must not have a criminal background check record with an offense higher than a summary offense.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years law enforcement in hospital, school police/security, municipal, state, federal, or military police experience.

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

1. Responsible for functions necessary to maintain the safety of the campus. Controls access to hospital and specific areas. Appropriately handles disruptive visitors, patients and staff by verbal communication, physical intervention, citations, and arrest when necessary. Responds to codes, alerts, and drills as directed by procedure. Employs preventive patrol practices. Monitors CCTV.

2. Communicates with the appropriate persons with the systems provided to assure that information is shared when appropriate to complete the mission and values of Uniontown Hospital without loss of confidentiality. Completes reports timely and accurately. Meets with other law enforcement agencies related to issues that have or may affect the organization. Enforce the parking regulations.

3. Understands and enforces the law to provide a safe environment for all those who enter the hospital campus. Meets with other departments when there is an issue related to safety or security that maybe or is an issue to determine the best

course of action. Responds quickly to and/or reacts swiftly to emergencies and in the best interest of the hospital.

4. Maintains the skills necessary to maintain professional standards. Regular training with non/less-lethal and other weapons to assure an understanding of safety and skill. Passes the lethal weapons training with the appropriate score for handgun, shotgun and patrol rifle. Attends Defensive Tactics Training. Attends scheduled training program and passes the associated tests. Maintains control and accountability of cash transactions accurately.

5. Assumes responsibility for personal development, continuing education, and professionalism. Assists in the training and orientation of new officers. Maintains department equipment. Maintains personal equipment that is used on the job so that it passes monthly inspection. Records and reports equipment malfunction. Initiates service work orders.
