About Us:
The Friends of Mammoth Cave, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to preserving and promoting the natural and cultural resources of Mammoth Cave National Park. We strive to enhance the visitor experience through education, outreach, and community engagement. And we serve as an ambassador for Mammoth Cave National Park and the Caveland region, promoting and enhancing understanding and appreciation of all facets of the Park and the surrounding International Biosphere Reserve.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead and grow our organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Mammoth Cave National Park, a proven track record in non-profit management, and the ability to build and expand our outreach efforts. It is currently anticipated that work will average 20 hours per week. As funding levels increase, it is anticipated that the hours worked and compensation will also increase.

Compensation:

Starting at $33/hour based on experience and qualifications with potential for additional compensation based on fundraising benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct development, fundraising, and capacity building activities for the organization, providing strategic leadership and vision.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
  • Provide primary oversight for normal financial operations, budgeting, fundraising, and program management.
  • Create, plan, and host events at Mammoth Cave National Park for donors and members, and staff informational tables at Mammoth Cave National Park events. This will include leading outreach and educational initiatives to engage the community and promote the mission of the Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park.
  • Create and distribute electronic newsletters to members.
  • Work closely with the organization’s staff and Board of Directors and the staff, rangers, and management of Mammoth Cave National Park.
  • Prepare and submit grants to support the organization’s work and assist Mammoth Cave National park staff in writing and submitting grants to benefit the Park.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including donors, members, volunteers, and community partners. This will include maintaining and effectively utilizing a membership database to foster relationships with Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park members.
  • Direct and oversee the work of a social media and website consultant(s) and assist in generating social media and website content to promote the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit leadership or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Strong fundraising, budgeting, and financial management skills, and experience managing accounts and financials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for conservation and community engagement.
  • Proven fundraising success of $100,000 or more.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Work is mainly remote, with the ability to commute to Mammoth Cave as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
