Post Doctoral Associate

The University of Pittsburgh

Job Description

Full job description

Post Doctoral Associate

Center for Philosophy of Science - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24007692)

Postdoctoral Fellowships enable philosophers of science within five years of their doctorates to spend a two-term academic year working in the Center for Philosophy of Science on a project in philosophy of science that they nominate. Two Postdoctoral Fellowships are offered each year.

The Center encourages applications from assistant professors in the early stages of their careers as well as from scholars with newly awarded doctorates. We particularly welcome submissions from members of underrepresented groups.

Postdoctoral Fellows have no formal duties. They are expected to reside in Pittsburgh, undertake research full-time in an office in the Center for Philosophy of Science, and participate in the life of the Center by attending and giving talks, contributing to discussion groups, etc.

Application Materials: A cover letter indicating that a Postdoctoral Fellowship is sought. A description of the project to be undertaken during residence (500-1000 words). A curriculum vitae. A sample of your written work. Letters of reference from three knowledgeable scholars. We recommend letters whose content is blinded to the applicant. Send letters to pittcntr@pitt.edu. Documentation affirming that the requisite doctorate was awarded within five years of the intended starting date of the fellowship. The Fellowship may only be held by scholars with the requisite doctorate.
