Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a temporary part-time Information Systems Technician to provide computer and technical assistance concerning system and enterprise wide issues including applications, infrastructure, and systems. Incumbents also research, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software and deploy new technologies.
Responsibilities may include responding to and resolving escalated issues; coordinating fixes and resolutions with other departments and external vendors; determining specifications; monitoring daily systems operations and optimizing performance; receiving and documenting new technologies; and working with users to determine appropriate technologies to meet their needs.

Required Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field, and four (4) years of experience providing user support; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of network telecommunication, system administration, systems analysis, design and database management in terms of concepts, techniques and operating principles.
Depending upon the operational needs of the department, advanced to expert level of knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Windows Workstation and Server Windows, Macintosh and other operating systems Hardware devices
- Local Area Network (LAN) and remote access troubleshooting
- Network and LAN fundamentals, including network interface connection and user installation, network topologies, LAN administration, servers and network architecture
- Voice communication equipment
- Microsoft Office Suite software, third party systems accessed software via desktop client or web-based client
- Internet technology
Intermediate-level of ability to operate, install, maintain, configuring and troubleshoot highly technical computers, local and wide area network equipment, servers. Moderate-level of project management skills, Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in teh course of work. Ability to effciently manage time and organize work. Ability to communicate clearly, verbal and written. Ability to maintain a customer focus in providing technology services.

1. Provides system and enterprise wide support which includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, reporting on, and resolving problems associated with applicable information technology systems and equipment; researches technological solutions when necessary.
