Job Description
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Civil and Environmental Engineering, will organize and perform a broad range of field experiments; utilize both routine and specialized techniques in research area; perform analysis and documentation of experimental protocols; design and maintain computer database(s) and improve data utilization; perform various laboratory research experiments and duties; record test results, analyze data using statistical methodology; and ensure inventory of appropriate lab supplies. May coordinate multiple research-related projects.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in Earth, Environmental Science, or Biology; a minimum of two years of research experience in field biology, ecology, or hydrology, may include experience gained as an undergraduate; specific understanding of field measurement methods in ecology; experience in conducting online research and applying information to projects based on scientific area of study; familiarity with the Harvard Forest and the Plum Island Estuary and with techniques to measure methane and carbon dioxide fluxes in the field; and familiarity with Picaro infrared gas analyzers and techniques for installing gas collection collars in the field, in both soils and on tree stems.
