Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Director, Finance, provides leadership in overseeing and managing UM Ventures’ financial operations, which includes advising the UM Ventures Executive Director, UMD administration, and other stakeholders on financial decisions; directs UM Ventures’ efforts to ensure licensee financial compliance; oversees billing and collections, financial records, and incoming payments; implements UMD’s intellectual property (IP) revenue sharing policies; and executes annual revenue distributions, payment requests, and financial transactions related to IP license consideration and patent expense reimbursements in research agreements. The Assistant Director, Finance, supervises the office’s finance staff.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial management, business-related fields, or equivalent.
