The University of Notre Dame Police Department is accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer!
The University of Notre Dame Police Department (NDPD) is seeking highly motivated individuals with excellent communication skills who want to work in a positive team atmosphere. The campus is comparable to a small town with community members from all over the world. Currently Certified Law Enforcement Officers are preferred, however applicants meeting the minimum requirements will also be considered.
The Notre Dame Police Department is a full-service police department recognized by the State of Indiana with the authority to enforce Indiana State Laws, make arrests, and conduct criminal investigations.
Details:
  • Indiana Law Enforcement Academy is preferred or the equivalent
    • Certified Officers will have an expedited hiring process
  • Minimum Starting wage $31.50/hour
  • Afternoon/night shift differential compensation

  • 4/3 10 hour work shift

Additional Details:
Applicants considered for hire will be required to participate in but not limited to interviews, background investigations, psychological evaluations and drug screening. Non-certifed applicants considered for hire will be required but not limited to the above including written comprehension testing as well as a physical agility test that mirrors the State of Indiana's testing process.

If hired, non-certified persons will be required to attend and successfully pass the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier 1 course.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid vehicle Operator License
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various constituencies
  • Ability to supervise and adapt to rapidly changing situations, making appropriate decisions under stressful circumstances
  • Must maintain strong customer service focus even in difficult policing situations
  • Must meet minimum standards regarding acceptance for training by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board as specified in Indiana Administrative Code Title 250 Rule 3

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College Degree
  • Tier I Certified Police Officer or the equivalent
