Job Description
Job Summary
This coding position involves reviewing medical records and accurately assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS codes. You will also assign Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRG) or All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (APR-DRG) based on the type of insurance and extract specific data elements for each case, adhering to federal regulations. You will code various inpatient records and follow official coding guidelines, ethical standards, and institutional procedures. You will use 3M 360 software according to standard workflows and ensure compliance with Michigan Medicine policies, maintaining required quality and productivity standards.

Modes of Work
Mobile/Remote - the work requirements allow for the majority or all the work to be completed offiste. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite if necssitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
