Director of Financial Aid
Job Description
St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a Director of Financial Aid responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Office of Financial Aid. This position requires in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies, a commitment to fiscal integrity and stewardship, and strong management skills in both project and personnel oversight. The role also involves overseeing all programs, including Title IV, state, institutional, and private assistance, while ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations.
Specific responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for Financial Aid, addressing modern challenges in student education. Foster a culture of outstanding service and communication to students and families.

Interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional regulations for financial aid packaging, budgeting, and disbursement. Ensure compliance with NCAA rules, and submit timely, accurate reports for federal, state, and institutional funds. Maintain security and confidentiality of financial aid records and ensure clean audits and program reviews.

Administer college financial aid policies and programs, applying best practices to strengthen award processes and increase enrollment in targeted populations.

Supervise and develop Financial Aid staff, providing cross-training and mentoring, and ensuring accurate, customer-focused performance.

Manage Financial Aid budget, endowed scholarship programs, and key campus partnerships. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and prepare financial aid packages aligned with institutional leveraging models.

Collaborate with the Vice President and admissions to develop financial aid leveraging programs and communications for prospective students.

Regularly review financial aid reports to ensure accurate awards and effective use of federal and institutional funds.

Work with enrollment management to meet discount rate targets, monitor student aid expenditures, and ensure timely financial aid processing for all students.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
-
5-7 years of experience in higher education and financial aid.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.

Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.

Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.

Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions expeditiously.

Skilled at setting a good example for others.

Skilled at organizing events, programs, and projects and seeing them through to completion.
