Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

In 2005, leading child development researchers at the University of Maryland, College Park created the Infant and Child Studies Consortium to work together to study how children learn and grow up. Since then, our research has contributed to the greater understanding of language acquisition and social learning. Our participating units span the departments of Linguistics, Psychology, Human Development, Hearing & Speech Sciences, and the Maryland Language Science Center.

We are looking for an Outreach Coordinator to help maintain community and campus partnerships, and recruit families to participate in research. This position would:

  • Organize and participate in outreach and recruitment events
    • Coordinate with social media specialist to plan relevant posts about activities
    • Oversee outreach events such as tabling at farmers markets, from getting a slot with the market master, scheduling and training labbers to staff the table, planning and setting up the display, and bringing things back to campus, to getting sign ups handed off and processed smoothly
    • Find new places and ways to reach families
  • Resurrect and Maintain relationships with community and hospital partners
  • Train and oversee hourly Outreach Assistants
  • Maintain relationships with ICS affiliate labs

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to travel frequently within the DMV area

Preferences:

  • Experience coordinating and running outreach events such as market table or fair booth
  • Experience or familiarity with working in a research lab or with children/families in an educational setting
  • Communicate well with collaborators and researchers
  • Work well independently on flexible time

Additional Information:

Salary range $45,000-$47,000.
