Provide quality instruction of HVAC domestic heating in a part-time capacity at Muscatine Community College

Required Qualifications
Career Technology Education
1. The minimum requirement is an associate’s degree or a related field or 6000 hours of tested experience. Possess a baccalaureate degree or higher in HVAC, or possess a baccalaureate degree in any area of study if at least 18 of the credit hours completed were in the career and technical field of instruction in which the instructor teaches classes.

2. Possess an associate degree in the career and technical education field of instruction in which the instructor is teaching, if such degree is considered terminal for that field of instruction, and have at least 3,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the occupational area or related occupational area in which the instructor teaches classes.

3. Have special training and at least 6,000 hours of relevant tested experience in the occupational area or related occupational area in which the instructor teaches classes if the instructor possesses less than a baccalaureate degree in the area or related area of study or occupational area in which the instructor is teaching classes and the instructor does not meet the requirements of subparagraph 24.5(1)“a”(2)

This position may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
Salary $700 per credit hour, EICC retirees $1000 per credit hour
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
    • Providing and supporting classroom instruction for the HVAC program
    • Demonstrating and applying a thorough and accurate knowledge
    • Ensuring that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, are properly maintained and are in working order prior to class time
    • Planning and organizing instructions to maximize student learning
    • Preparing and providing course syllabi and instructional materials to students
    • Evaluating and reviewing students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
    • Maintaining student discipline through effective classroom management
    • Keeping appropriate records of testing and grading, as per college standards
    • Maintaining a safe, orderly and up-to-date lab area for the application of multiple labs within the HVAC curriculum
