COMPUTER SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR
Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Computer Science or Information Systems.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
A master's degree in Computer Science (CSC). Two years' teaching at a community college or university.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Plan, organize and instruct courses assigned, devoting to this primary task the instructor’s best professional effort
- Review course objectives periodically and instructional strategies to meet those objectives
- Prepare and distribute a current course syllabus as required by college policy
- Participate in the selection of the textbooks and submit requests for textbooks and other material needed for instruction
- Maintain and accurately complete records as required
- Arrive at the classroom sufficiently in advance of classes to adequately prepare instructional space and material for organized instruction
- Counsel and advise students regarding up-to-date academic matters, college services and matters relating to student success
- Schedule and maintain office hours in accordance with college policy
- Participate in staff meetings, serve on committees and participate in other college activities
- Maintain professional growth and development to foster and create scholarly production according to college and personal needs
- Maintain professional working relationship with students, fellow faculty members, administration and staff, adhering to the highest standards of respect for the rights of others
- Be available to sponsor student academic-related activities (e.g. clubs, organizations, events, etc.)
- Participate in community and professional service activities and serve in selected activities as the need arises
- Perform other functions consistent with the position as requested by the Dean of Academic Instruction and/or the respective division chair.
