The Assistant Director of Physical Plant Operation assists the Director of Facilities and Construction in directing and coordinating the College physical plant services. Develops and monitors plans to improve and/or maintain the condition, quality, and appearance of the College’s facilities, grounds, and equipment. Directs and evaluates the daily activities of personnel engaged in physical plant operations.
Specific Position Duties
- Manage daily administrative and operational business associated with the activities of Physical Plant division.
- Prepare draft plans, proposals, policies and operational procedures for review and approval by the Director.
- Coordinate maintenance requests and review work logs to ensure efficient work practices.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are properly maintained, used and controlled.
- Ensure the proper operation and inspection of all College mechanical systems, including controls and computer-operated energy management systems.
- Provide on-going analysis of energy management and preventive maintenance systems and make recommendation for corrective action.
- Supervise and perform building repair and renovation projects as assigned.
- Ensure that departmental staff participate in job-specific training and other professional developmental activities.
- Supervise departmental staff, monitor and assess progress, conduct annual performance evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications
Ten years work experience in plumbing, construction, engineering and/or maintenance industry, including supervision of multi-level staff. Demonstrated ability to review and evaluate problems and recommend cost effective solutions. Experience in supervision of consultants, contracts and assigned staff. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with building controls. Technical writing skills as well as oral and written communication skills which support interaction with varying levels of OC employees, trustees, consultants, contractors and external agencies. Ability to develop and manage large operating budget.

Monday-Thursday 8:00-5:30, Friday 8:00-1:00 Summer Hours Monday-Thursday 7:30-5:30 off FridayPosting Number
