Nursing Program Faculty (12 Month)

Class Description

The 12 month Nursing Program faculty member is responsible for teaching didactic, lab, and clinical instruction in the nursing program predominately on the Dundalk Campus.  Teaching is required in the Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing programs.  Occasional weekend and evening classes will be required. Teaching responsibilities include traditional face to face, remote and online formats.    

Minimum Requirements

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland; Master’s degree in Nursing (or enrolled in the last semester of a Master’s degree program); teaching experience preferred; and recent clinical experience required.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide didactic and clinical instruction in the practical nursing courses, and other assigned courses within LPN to RN transition program and RN program.
  2. Coordinate adjunct faculty assigned to nursing courses.
  3. Conduct simulated experiences. 
  4. Participate in Nursing Program committees as assigned.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Assure assigned lectures are current and contain active teaching techniques
  2. Provides clinical instruction in assigned courses and selects student patient assignments appropriate for the course and level of student abilities.  
  3. Coordinates assigned courses (Scheduling of clinical, grading of assignments, creation of exams and analysis, collaboration with clinical faculty and provide ongoing feedback to students)
  4. Serves as advisor to nursing students as assigned.
  5. Participates in the review of courses and curriculum.  
  6. Perfects teaching skills by using supervisor, peer and student feedback.
  7. Participates in School of Health Professions and College committees.  
  8. Participates in School of Health Professions activities such as School Orientation, Student Recruitment, and Interdisciplinary activities.
