Provides expert consultation and leadership in one or more areas for the design, development and implementation of technical solutions, products, and systems. Recommends alterations and enhancements to improve quality of solutions, products and/or procedures.
May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans. May provide supervision of assigned staff. Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance standards.
This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Provide advanced system architecture design and engineering for customer systems and services
Provide advanced consultation in the architecture, design, development and implementation of technical products and systems
Engineer requirements definition, architecture development, and system level design and integration for computing, data storage, data retention and recovery needs of business critical applications and functions
Provide advanced technical leadership and resources for enterprise services and systems
Participate in and support cross technology process improvement initiatives
Participate in Engineering working groups, and ensure that the technology organization is aligned to corporate technology directions
Assist application development life cycle by serving as a general infrastructure product SME to help identify and qualify application development opportunities that will enhance a systems stability, availability, and resiliency
Lead development of formalized solution methodologies
Build and maintain repository for deliverables, methodologies, and infrastructure/ development documents
Provide advanced leadership for and participates in complex long-term project work, including functional subsystem upgrades for mission-critical services as well as strategic upgrades to the data center
Provide advanced technical direction and leadership to the lower level systems administrators/engineers through the planning and implementation processes
Lead requirements derivation and analysis, system specification, system design, functional partitioning, and system architecture definition
Provide advanced expertise in the development of system test, validation, and integration plans on projects, and ensure maintenance of system integrity throughout project development
Establish strong working relationships with the business, operations and other technology team members
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Business Planning Managers and specifically aligns infrastructure strategies and solutions to Business Objectives
Provide end to end solution and design details
Interface and coordinate tasks with internal and external technical resources. Collaborates with Project Managers and technical directors to provision estimates, develop overall implementation solution plan, and serve as a lead as required, to implement the installation, customization, and integration efforts
Oversee aspects of project life cycle, from initial kickoff through requirements analysis, design and implementation phases for projects within the solution area. Manage project budgets and participate in department budget process
Manage design engineering and infrastructure staff employees in performance or work; Motivate, delegate, coach and train subordinates; conduct performance evaluations and assist with hiring, discipline, recognition and termination
Supervisory Responsibilities
Requirements
Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, technical discipline, or equivalent experience is required. BSEE, BSCS, relevant technical certfications (MCSE, RHCE, CCIE, or others), preferred.
10-12 years' experience in a high-performance datacenter with direct support, systems engineering, design and architect responsibilities.
24x7 operations experience required.
Advanced knowledge and experience working with high transaction, resource intensive OLTP and batch process databases to include system performance monitoring and tuning for optimal performance.
6+ years in architecture and design of high performance, highly available solutions to meet business needs and growth
8+ years' experience working with storage solutions and related hardware such as SAN and iSCSI.
8+ years with high availability solutions such as MSCS or Oracle RAC
Advanced knowledge of backup, restore and disaster recovery planning and deployment.
4+ years with regulatory compliance and PCI design and audit
5+ years of experience managing and prioritizing large deployment activities with a variety of teams
5+ years of IT Architecture experience with infrastructure design and management (server, applications, and/or networks)
Experience with advanced Network Topologies (i.e. Load Balances, Firewalls, Virtual Networks)
Advanced knowledge and applied experience with various OS platforms such as the current versions of: Windows, Linux, HPUX, AIX, or Solaris
Advanced experience in the design and implementation of VMware VSphere 5 environments

Cubic Pay Range:
$107,695 - 148,080 + benefits.
The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
