The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking to hire a Receptionist - People & Culture Assistant.
The Receptionist Assistant will be responsible for receiving and directing visitors, applicants, vendors, customers, etc. to appropriate individuals. Responsible for responding to calls on main switchboard. Processes outgoing and incoming mail and coordinates delivery functions. May provide support for the new hire process by compiling Offer Packets, New Hire Packets and generating employee ID cards. Updates phone rosters, checks AED daily and check tracking for A/R. Schedules stay employee meetings with the HR representatives. Coordinates distribution of service awards and birthday cards. Reconciles postage machine funds. Provides clerical support to Human Resources and other departments as requested. Maintains and files employee documents in electronic filing system.
This position will be onsite full-time at our, San Diego, Ca location.
The Responsibilities
- Greets visitors and directs or escorts them to the appropriate person. Notifies personnel of visitor arrival.
- Sends, receives, posts, sorts and distributes mail and other deliveries. Reconciles postage machine funds.
- Operates a multi-line telephone system and provides basic information to callers.
- Supports the new hire process as needed (offer packets, new hire packets, generates employee ID cards, etc.).
- Updates phone rosters, AED daily checks and check tracking for A/R.
- Schedules employees stay interviews.
- Coordinates distribution of service awards and birthday cards.
- Maintains and files employee documents in electronic filing system.
- Aids others in Human Resources on miscellaneous routine assignments and/or projects. Provide administrative assistance to the HR department as needed.
- Prepares FedEx packages for shipment from the Human Resources team.
- Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year office experience with some reception work. Prefer two years related experience, with some exposure to scheduling and detailed administrative work.
- Computer skills to include word processing, e-mail programs and data entry.
- Strong verbal communication skills both by phone and in person are required in daily contact.
- Must be able to operate a variety of automated office equipment, including a multi-line telephone, fax and mail equipment.
- Professional demeanor required as this is often the first Quidel person people meet.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks easily.
- Ability to handle confidential information is required.

- Interacts with all visitors, vendors and suppliers visiting the site.
Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
Physical Demands
No strenuous physical activity. 10% of time meeting with people; 70% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/on phones; 20% of the time talking with visitors. Flexible work hours may be needed at times to meet project deadlines. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role.Works for long periods of time in sitting position using computer, keyboard and mouse.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary for this position is $21/hour.
