Job Summary
The University of Michigan, Department of Cardiac Surgery and Trinity Health Muskegon are seeking a full-time cardiac surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, on the clinical track. This position is a faculty appointment in the University of Michigan Medical School with clinical responsibilities located solely at Trinity Health Muskegon and the Grand Rapids metro area. The surgeon will have the responsibility of performing complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery with an eventual development of specific subspecialty niche in adult cardiac surgery at Mercy Health Muskegon. On-call coverage is required and will be shared with fellow faculty.
Required Qualifications*
The preferred candidate will have an MD or DO degree, have completed an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency, and should be proficient in all such aspects of adult cardiothoracic surgery. The candidate must possess exceptional teamwork, program development, and mentorship abilities. Evidence of clinical competence is expected. A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia is required. Candidates must also have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. Applicants should be Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery or board eligible for new graduates.
