In a community-based clinic setting, under the supervision of the WIC Program Supervisor, the Lead, Registered Dietitian oversees daily operations and site supervision within clinic site. Determines WIC Program eligibility, provides WIC-administrative, customer support services, counsel basic and advanced nutrition care and breastfeeding services to perinatal women, and the parents/legal guardians/caregivers of newborn to preschool-age children by: Utilizing a Public Health approach to providing nutrition education to participants, including high-risk nutrition risk conditions and manages specialized food prescriptions. Adhering to Scripps and California State WIC policies, and embracing California WIC philosophy of providing customer service, nutrition education and breastfeeding support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition Services, Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of dietetic internship or other training program that was approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. (ACEND).
- At least 6 months of counseling within a public health and/social service organization.
- Strong customer service skills and works collaboratively with people of all ages, social, and ethnic backgrounds. Experience in a fast paced office setting.
- Registered Dietitian through the Commission of Dietetic Registration. Registered Dietitian credentialed with or eligible for registration by the Commission of Dietetic Registration, (probation will continue until registered status is documented) and expected to maintain such status with the appropriate continuing education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to two years as a dietitian in a community nutrition, public health or WIC Program desired.
- At least a year of supervisor or management experience.
- Certified Lactation Educator or Consultant.
- Bilingual skills, (English/Spanish), (English/French), (English/Arabic) English/Vietnamese). Knowledge of California WIC computer system.
- Good customer service experience/ skills.
- Must have considerable knowledge of normal, therapeutic and community nutrition and effective interpersonal community.
