Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Student Financial Services, the Assistant Director assists in the administration, compliance, and processing of financial aid programs.
This position will evaluate, analyze, and process detailed confidential reports to determine student eligibility for financial assistance using both federal and institutional methodology. The Assistant Director provides leadership, administrative effectiveness, and financial aid services through an emphasis on individual attention to students and high-quality customer service.
This position will require some evening and weekend hours, as well as travel to other Fordham University campuses.
Essential Functions
- Assists in the management and processing of donor-related scholarships, ROTC, HEOP, Study Abroad, Federal Direct Loans, Private Education Loans, and other special projects as assigned.
- Assists with adjustment of financial aid for compliance issues.
- Interacts with other University offices.
- Assists in all aspects of financial aid administration, including, but not limited to, counseling of students and parents, needs analysis, processing of applications, and packaging.
- Reads, interprets, communicates, and supports compliance with the most recent regulatory releases and/or procedures for assigned programs.

- Conducts financial aid and financing presentations.
- Participates in professional development workshops.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of student financial services experience.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Proven administrative skills, including delivery of high-quality customer service.
- Knowledge of Federal and New York State Financial Aid Programs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Powerfaids and Banner Systems.
- Experience in customer-oriented or consumer credit financing.
Minimum Starting Salary: $62,640
Maximum Starting Salary: $68,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
