Lab Services Coordinator - Campus Support
Job Description
The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Hourly Rate: $29.00 - $33.50
Shift: Monday-Friday, 6 am - 8:30 am for start time; Flexible with start time, 8-hour shift
Location: San Diego, CA

What we're looking for
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required; BS or BA Degree in Science preferred
- 1-year experience working within a laboratory setting preferred
- Experience: 1-year experience working within a laboratory setting preferred
- Collaboration Tool: Knowledge of Information intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel
- Strong process optimization skills and scientific troubleshooting skills
- Fully computer-literate and proficient with all office applications
- Strong verbal and written skills, willingness to meet with Director weekly
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, hands on, organized with strong ability to lead contending priorities in a multifaceted environment.
- Conform to all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both the customer and internal contacts.
- Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, self-manage and self-motivate; forward-thinking.
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
In this role you will:
- Arrange lab equipment preventative maintenance (PM) maintain PM tracking software. Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration.
- Assist the (Senior) Laboratory Manager in managing the daily operations of the laboratory, such as operational issues or routine preventative maintenance on low level equipment.
- Act as point of contact for instrument technicians escorting and assure documentation of completed work.
- Supports the submittal, monitoring and closing out of equipment maintenance/repair work requests.
- For ELIS requests support corrective work order requests, as needed, by way of SI or Help desk (enter phone # for help desk)
- Assists with maintenance of lab asset inventory and asset tagging.
- Complete and submitting Add/Remove/Change forms (ARC Requests) as needed
- Perform periodic asset cycle counts/audits of lab equipment
- Avantor LSC performs audit
- Act as a conduit between scientists and technicians/lab managers/support staff to communicate laboratory issues requiring remediation.
- Assists laboratory onboarding technicians with space preparation and coordination for equipment installs and moves.
- Assist in maintaining the laboratory in a safe environment - check safety equipment, ensure items creating unsafe conditions are identified and coordinate removal; decontaminate equipment being removed.
- Housekeeping - Ensure the general upkeep of the lab by recognizing and addressing minor housekeeping or coordinating laboratory cleanouts.
- Ordering of non-capex items forming a permanent lab addition
- Participate in laboratory process improvement and harmonization teams
- Provide basic operating training on common laboratory equipment. Assist with equipment troubleshooting, and supplemental resources. Assist in writing Work Instructions for equipment based on manuals/documentation provided by the manufacturer.
- Coordinate Help Desk Management Program. Triage/prioritize Business Operations related tickets.
- Assist in acquiring quotes, preparing purchase orders, following up with vendors for laboratory, office and facilities equipment, goods and consumables.
- Ensure hazardous and biohazardous materials are accurately handled and stored.
- Maintain and look over cryogenic gas and dry ice usage. Support monitoring of cold storage through software systems.
- Provide back-up support to ensure shipments are received, processed, and recipients advised using package tracking software. Ensure unclaimed packages are accurately stored.
- Support licensee onboarding and off boarding by assisting with laboratory/office preparation and coordinate changes with contractors.
- Advise Operations Manager of licensee requests for specialty equipment training & lead them.
- Assist with the organization and preparation of Safety Committee meetings materials. Support execution of action items.
- Provide assistance to inform and account for persons during evacuations. Assist Operations Manager in completing incident reports.
- Training and Policies - Support SOP creation and validation.
- Coordinate with Operations team to prepare site for inspections within laboratories and facilities, EHS and security. Monitor completion of corrective actions.
- Project manage pipette calibration and plan onsite calibration events with third party vendor
- Track and maintain records of pipettes, capital equipment, and calibration events.
- Entering, maintaining, and auditing records using an inhouse asset management program.
- Supporting lab managers upon request with equipment needs.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$58,000.00 - $97,000.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
